Top engineering firm to provide acceptance testing

Manufacturing computer reports that BP’s PTA plant expansion in China is to be automated using the Emerson PlantWeb digital architecture.

Emerson is to engineer and manage the automation project, using Foundation fieldbus technology for process control and data management, as well as OPC (OLE for Process Control) technology.

As main instrument vendor, Emerson will be responsible for detailed design, including engineering design and implementation.

“We are pleased at this new opportunity to combine our technology with the solutions skill of our Chemical Centre of Excellence and the engineering supervision and project management leadership in our Singapore office,” says John Berra, president, Emerson Process Management.

“We are encouraged by BP’s confidence in our ability to provide system design, configuration, staging, acceptance testing, commissioning, and start-up support. We are committed to delivering a world class digital automation system.”
